Care Instructions

With proper care, your handmade Moroccan ceramics will remain beautiful for years to come. Here is how to keep them at their best.

Washing

We recommend hand washing your ceramics with warm water and a mild dish soap. Avoid abrasive sponges or scouring pads, as they can wear down the glaze over time.

While some of our pieces are technically dishwasher-safe, hand washing is always the gentlest option and will best preserve the hand-painted details.

Food Safety

All Maison Chapuis ceramics are finished with food-safe glazes. They are perfect for serving and everyday use. Our glazes are lead-free and meet international food safety standards.

Heat & Microwave

Please avoid placing your ceramics in the microwave or exposing them to sudden temperature changes (for example, moving a piece directly from the refrigerator to a hot oven). Tagines are designed for stovetop use over low to medium heat. Always start with a cold tagine on a cold burner and increase the heat gradually.

Maintaining the Glaze

  • Avoid soaking your ceramics for extended periods, as prolonged moisture exposure can affect the finish.
  • Dry your pieces with a soft cloth after washing to prevent water spots.
  • For stubborn stains, a paste of baking soda and water applied gently works well without damaging the glaze.
  • Store bowls and plates with a soft cloth or felt pad between them to prevent scratching.

A Note on Handmade

Every piece is shaped, painted, and fired by hand. Slight variations in color, pattern, and form are natural and are what make each piece unique. These are not imperfections -- they are the marks of the artisan's hand.
